THE WEIGHT ISSUE:
Respecting the tiger within Weight problems usually fall into two loose categories: Temporary Weight gain and Long Term weight issues.
Temporary weight gain often reflects sudden crises or an insoluble problem that causes helplessness and no immediate escape or solution. This can cause an "urgent eating down of frustrations and hopelessness". The amount of poundage uusually measures the length of the crisis. In time, when the problem is resolved or has abated, we feel more in control of our lives and there is commensurate success in getting back to our previous weight.
Long Term Weight issues and obesity are different. Here the weight has accrued over many years, and has built a protective wall that hides a sensitive nature. Like a strong levee or dam, it holds back powerful feelings of guilt, incalculable hurt, and a sense of helplessness.
A sweet demeanor skirts the surface of very deep waters of emotion. The person often becomes so accommodating that people unwittingly take advantage until the person feels used and abused. An angry resentment follows because"constant giving is seldom if ever reciprocated". There can also be a fear or guilt component that involves sexuality.
A jovial happy attitude is also assumed in order to balance the intense, often frightening tidal waves of hurt and rage that are constantly having to be eaten down daily and held in check. The person is hardly ever aware of this, consciously.
The amount of weight in obesity is a measuring stick of hidden, extraordinary, unexpressed power and feeling plus a fear of hidden genius, which if faced, might have to be acknowledged and addressed.
The more weight we have, the more ferocious is the caged tiger within. It's becomes an urgency to eat down the feelings, feed the tiger, and keep it tamed. But one day, we can "leash up the tiger and let it walk or run, exercise the beast, uncage it when you think it's time, hear it roar.'
Such an exercise takes a strong leash. The beast must be respected. It has power. Exercising shouldn't go into overdrive or it is likely to stop. We can walk, run, or move the body for at least a half hour a day or we might also choose to get creative and write honest poetry or wild lurid novels-even if only for our eyes.
We must honor the tiger within. Use its energy to help be who we really are.
A PRACTICAL PRACTICE THAT WORKS: It helps immeasurably to "eat absolutely nothing" three hours before going to bed. Drink water instead. You won't believe how much easy weight you can lose in a year doing this, alone, and it can help prevent serious esophageal reflux, Gerd, or heartburn. " Many Blessings.
